$1,000 Scholarship opportunity

Annual $1,000 Scholarship

 Eligibility:  A member of the Craftmaster Federal Credit Union continuing his or her education (advanced) in a field of their choice on a full-time basis.

 Requirements:

  1. A completed application typed or printed legibly.
  2. A detailed essay on one of the following topics and no more than 2 pages in length:
    • The importance of a good financial credit history.
    • Member ownership, volunteer leadership and excellent personal service set credit unions apart from other financial institutions. Which of these three distinctions do you feel is the most important and why?
    • What is the most important financial lesson you’ve learned, and how does your credit union membership factor into that lesson?

 Time requirements:

 All scholarship submissions must be received in the Credit Union office by April 30 of each year:

Recipient will be chosen at the May meeting of the Board of Directors.

 Disbursement of Scholarship:

$1,000.00 check will be endorsed directly to the College for educational costs.

Tax season starts January 29, 2018- Please note some refunds will not be received until the end of February.

To qualify for FREE tax preparation you need to have income of $55,000 or less

You will need to provide the following information to us:

  1. Last years tax return (if available)
  2. All tax forms received for 2017- please verify all are received before scheduling an appointment to file!  (W-2, 1099 Int, 1099 Misc, 1099’s, 1098, unemployment, Social security, plus many more)
  3. Completed tax questionnaire (available at the CU office or the YMCA)
  4. Local tax return paperwork

The IRS e-file is the most accurate way to file a tax return and when you choose to direct deposit your return, the refund is deposited in most cases in less than 10 days!!!  Call 570-265-8410 or 570-265-YMCA (9622) to schedule and appointment or for more information about the program.
